Italia 2008

Well i have dedicated this blog to my Italy's team at Euro 2008 that starts in a couple of weeks.

The Team (Official 24 man Roster, It has to be cut to 23 but that cut is probably Perrotta since he was injured yesterday)

Marco Amelia
De Sanctis

De Rossi

Del piero
Di Natale

My starting 11

Buffon- The best goalie in the world even at his age. We cant go wrong with Buffon

Grosso- Great player defensively and offensively. He makes brilliant runs and has the speed to get back. He is also a great crosser of the ball.
Cannavaro- One of the best defenders in the world. Has loads of experience and is a natural leader
Barzagli- I have him over Materazzi as Materazzi has been in terrible form and i have never liked him. Barzagli is young and has shown that he is an elite D.
Zambrotta- His age is getting up there but he still has the pace to contribute offensively and is still great defensively.

De Rossi
- Probably the future of Italy. He is great defensively in Gattuso's role and has blistering long shots. He will be one of their best players easily.
Pirlo- The wizard of italy's game. Has all the vision in the world and you cant go wrong with him.
Camoronesi- Is creative and can jump into the attack real well.

Cassano- Easily the most talented layer in Italy and maybe the world. If his temper stays in check he will be italy's best player.
Di Natale- I dont know if he should start but Donadoni loves him. He is fast and is in great form.
Toni- IMO the best In the box striker in the world at the moment. I see him as winning the goal scoring campionship in the euro with roughly a goal a game.

De Rossi--------Pirlo---------Camorone
-----Di Natale

This will be Donadoni's Starting 11 im not so sure if this would be my ideal 11 because it looks to offensive. Im all for goal scoring but this will leave us vulnerable because De Rossi is the only Great Defender in all the Midfield or attackers. My 11 would go like this.

Perrotta or Aquilani--De Rossi---Pirlo------------Camoronesi

This would be great defensively and still provide a spark with Cassano and Toni and if we need a goal we could easily transform into the other formation with Perrotta becoming a forward or subbing in Del Piero or Di Natale

Italia 2008

Wow. I watched the entire 120 minutes and penalties. that was gut-wrenching. IMO neither team deserved to be eliminated. I was happy to see my team - Espana go through, but this result could have gone either way. Italy dictated the game and both teams had chances. I thought Buffon and Casillas both played out of their minds. I offer my condolences on the exit from Euro2008. Now it is time to replace Donadoni. BTW, I have seen some of the threads circulating, please ignore some of the venom that has been spewed in your direction. We tend to be a patriotic bunch, and while we have our problems we do love our country. Not all of us are ignorant, so do not allow the few to jade your opinion of everyone.

Italia 2008

BERLIN, June 20 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of flag-waving Germans celebrated into the night in scenes reminiscent of the 2006 World Cup after their team ousted Portugal 3-2 on Thursday to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2008.

'Schweini-Cool!' was the headline in Germany's top-selling Bild newspaper on Friday, which reserved a full inside page to scenes of jubilant Berlin fans decked out in the red, black and gold colours of the German flag.

Former soccer great Franz Beckenbauer, who questioned Germany's chances after a narrow victory over Austria on Monday, called the performance against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal 'fantastic' and predicted a trip to the final.

Even Chancellor Angela Merkel, a regular presence in the stands during Germany's hosting of the 2006 World Cup, got into the act, taking time out from a summit of European Union leaders in Brussels to catch part of the match.

'I only had time to see the first goal but then I headed into the dinner (of EU leaders) very motivated,' Merkel told German television. 'It was a sensational performance'.

Police said some 14,000 fans had gathered on the Kurfuerstendamm boulevard in west Berlin to celebrate the victory, dancing in the streets, scaling lamp-posts and blocking traffic.

Crowds of many thousands were also seen in Hamburg in the north, Munich in the south and Cologne in the west.

Officials announced that the 'Fan Mile' in Berlin's Tiergarten park, which drew crowds of up to 1 million during Germany's run to the semi-finals of the last World Cup, would be set up again next week for the final phase of the tournament.

Much of the German press coverage focused on 'Schweini', who had to watch the Austria match from the stands after being red carded for a push in Germany's first round loss to Croatia.

The platinum-blond winger, who plays for Bayern Munich, was caught on television talking with Merkel in Vienna, who attended the match in person along with several members of her cabinet.

'She told me what I had to do, she said I should just play like I did before and not do anything stupid so that's what I did,' Schweinsteiger said after the Portugal win. 'I think when the Chancellor tells you to do something you have to listen.'

Germany now face a semi-final clash on Wednesday against the winner of Friday's match between Turkey and Croatia.

A showdown with Turkey would be huge in Germany, where over two million people of Turkish origin live. In Berlin, home to more than 100,000 Turks, many fans have attached both Turkish and German flags to their cars and balconies.

<!-- begin conv --> I don't know mancini,  they are pumped up !  I might evan go get me their flag ! LMAO !  Good read  ah !
